WHERE HAVE ALL THE COLOURS GONE?

We're 5 liveries into the season and we have already seen a pattern and it's the presence of black in all of them. For those who may not know black makes cars a lot lighter and so does carbon fiber. A material that is also black in nature. So why is this so important?

There are rules in regulations and those directly affect how cars perform. One of the ways cars can perform better is by the cars meeting weight regulations so how can they cut corners? through paint. By adding more and more carbon fiber and/or black to the car teams can increase weight reduction. While this is exciting for the actual performance of the car, it is killing the sport.

None of this has been a secret but competition between teams have become more fierce and they have to reduce room for error. Through that performance boost now we have less life on the grid. We're moving towards all cars being predominantly carbon fiber or black. Taking away the days of a Pink Alpine, Silver Mercedes, and Yellow Renault.

So what can we do? Well as a fan we start a dialogue to change these rules and force the FIA's hands. At the end of the day we are the ones who are funding the sport and watching it religiously. There has to be rule changes that can directly or indirectly allow more personality to future liveries. I don't believe that anyone wants to see 20 Black/Dark cars on the grid but rather lively colours. When we see an all black livery we will be excited because it won't be just another black car on the grid. It will be a dark horse waiting to rise to the top.
