We're halfway through a season of uncertainty and entertainment in premier league fashion. While this might be exciting for the neutrals fans across England are suffering week in and week out trying to make sense of everything that is happening.
This season there seems to be 3 outright title contenders in Manchester City (MCI) who won the league last season with what seemed like improvable halfway through. Then we have Arsenal (AFC) who came in second last season after leading for more than halfway through the campaign only to fall short in the last couple match days. With Klopp's Liverpool (LFC) not being far behind the pair in direction and stability. Although they drew with Manchester City and Arsenal they currently sit at top of the league.
It is hard to say who will win the league but it is clear there is going to be a more exciting race this year than those before. With the possibility of clubs like Aston Villa (AVL) & Spurs (TOT) making a good run for a trophy chance in the Premier League. It would not be unheard of with Aston Villa last winning the league in the 92/93 season and Spurs in 60/61. They definitely have managers who are on the rise for glory in Unai Emery & Ange Postecoglou respectively.
My honest prediction is that it is too early to say even though we are 19 full match days in with some teams having played 20. This is because the league is so unpredictable and a safer bet would be to wait until the last 3-6 match days of the season. That is when teams normally show that they have the mentality and resilience to finish a title charge or not.
The winter transfer window will be a vital part of every teams chances of winning with Liverpool, Villa, City, & Arsenal all having injuries and players going away on international duty for their confederations cups. Key players who will be going away are Salah (LFC), Son (TOT) , & Tomiyasu (AFC). While also having important players injured like Robertson (LFC) , Tsimikas (LFC), Buendia (AVL), Partey (AFC), Timber (AFC), & Romero (TOT).
Only time will tell who this years champion will be. My predictions currently based on form, history, and depth are 1. City 2. Liverpool 3. Arsenal & 4. Villa. If each club were to have bad luck I can see City & Arsenal going as low as 3rd and Liverpool & Villa as low as 4th. With any of the 4 clubs having a good possibility of winning the title.
Only time will tell, see you back in March for an updated analysis!
