XAVI’S TENURE IS TOO MUCH 4-1 TO HANDLE

Xavi Hernandez has lost yet again and this time at the hands of Real Madrid in the Spanish Supercup, with an unfavorable scoreline of 4-1. The loss is not as big as the dagger that is Xavi's unknown tactics.

Recently two other Spanish Midfielders have also become managers and taken their clubs from ruins to respectable oppositions. Barcelona hoped Xavi would do the same with Barcelona but it has not happened for the Catalan. It is not clear if his tenure will come to and end but what is clear is that he needs to change or be changed.

Managers like Arteta have changed their club's mentality and ambitions through seasons of torture. Torture that came from bad results but with a clear club direction. You could tell that his team was changing their football for the better and with every game they looked better and better. Players understood the project and were all on board. With Xavi in charge it is the complete opposite right now.

Players seem lost and unbothered to grind out a result. Losing isn't always a bad thing but losing without any spirit is worrying. Whether Laporta decides to give Xavi more time or not will not change the fact Barcelona is struggling. Currently, they sit 4th in La Liga and play Napoli in the Round of 16 of the Champions League. An opponent that will give them a run for their money.

For things to turn around at Barcelona players need to be motivated and given a wake-up call and boost of confidence. For Xavi to improve he should ditch his vision of reliving the past and instead work to get the best of each player and evolve his game to match that of his rivals. Rivals who are not entirely out of his league based on talent and intelligence but rather in confidence and unity.
